Paula Walden is a multidisciplinary practitioner.

Contrast in line is evident throughout Walden’s work. The straight can be seen in relation to her disciplined training as a fine jeweller whilst the curve is evident through her free form side as an artist and sculptor.

From primitive jungle to the mise-en-scène of Paris, culturally sophisticated in nature, Walden was born in Papua New Guinea and moved to Australia at ten. Walden now shares the present time between Australia and Paris.

Initially, an Interior Design Diploma granted a spatially conscious perspective. The following year, Walden embarked on a Fine Jewellery Trade Apprenticeship to obtain a grounded approach to jewellery construction. Further motivated to explore the relationship between jewellery, fashion and the female form, a Bachelor in Fine Arts for Fashion completed Walden’s portfolio of study.  In 2010, Walden was awarded the ID Dunedin International award for jewellery design.

Clothing generated in connection to jewellery acts as a canvas whilst recent installations portray Walden's spatial awareness. Additionally, collaborations within the fashion arena with designers, photographers and stylists extend this idea of creating a space.

Walden has collaborated with former fashion editor of Russh Magazine, stylist Gillian Wilkins for Vogue China, renowned photographer Georges Antoni and numerous high-profile fashion designers, with the works being featured at Australian and Paris Fashion Weeks.

Conceptually motivated, and perhaps due to Walden knowing her path as a jeweller at a young age, a primary palette of yellow, red and blue is consistent throughout her work. This use of colour synthesis today is reflected within the brand's design strategy.

As well as being a conceptual and contemporary jewellery brand, Walden finds balance in the traditional practice of jewellery and is available for fine jewellery commissions.
